Learning this basic porridge recipe will set you up or a variety of breakfast meals. This is such a simple recipe but once you know it you can add all sorts of different toppings or flours to jazz things up. The possibilities are endless.

I have given instructions for how to make in a saucepan on the hob or to microwave. If I'm making a large quantity for the whole family I'll use the hob but if it an induvial potion for myself I'll microwave it.
The ingredient amounts id for one serving. So just multiple the amounts by how many people you plan to serve.
Above I've mixed in raisins and topped the porridge with oat yoghurt and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Let your imagination run wild and come up with your own combinations of flavours!
Pour the oats into a small non-stick saucepan. Then mix in the water.
Place saucepan on a hob set to a medium heat and stir for a few moments. Pour in the milk, then stir over a medium heat until creamy and thickened.
Pour mixture into a bowl and add your choice of toppings
Pour the oats into a microwavable bowl and mix in both the water and milk
place in mirowave for 1 1/2 minutes.
Stir
Place in microwave for another 1 minute
Leave to rest for 1 minute. Add you choice of toppings and enjoy!
